Leo’s DaChaun Anderson (23) gets fouled going to the basket against Fenwick, Saturday 01-05-19. Worsom Robinson/For the Sun-Times.

The Highland Shootout took place tonight downstate. Belleville West, which is now 16-0, made a massive statement.

The Maroons beat St. Louis Vashon 77-72. Vashon was very impressive at the Chicago Elite Classic against Morgan Park.

And check out what EJ Liddell did…

Most observers considered Belleville West the favorite to win Class 4A this season and tonight’s win just cements that. Unless a Chicago-area team improves a great deal it is difficult to see anyone capable of stopping Liddell and the Maroons from repeating as champs.

Liddell had 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks. Keith Randolph added 15. Vashon’s stars are Mario McKinney and 6-7 Cam’Ron Fletcher. They are the two best players I’ve seen this season. They each scored 17.
