VIDEO: Mount Carmel shuts out TF South

The final scoreboard reflected a 38-0 Mount Carmel victory over TF South in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs. But it didn’t feel like a landslide win to first-year coach Jordan Lynch.

“The penalties take away from a few things,” Lynch said. “We need to get back to the fundamentals and just get back to practice and get after it.”

Two seniors, running back Kieran Conjar and defensive back Eddie McGee, stood out for the Caravan (9-1). Conjar scored three touchdowns and McGee had two interceptions.

“He’s the straw that stirs the drink for us,” Lynch said of Conjar. “He’s in different personnel packages for us. He’s a kid that’s a senior that is playing like a senior and is someone that we need to get the ball to.”

Conjar scored two rushing touchdowns and caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Rad Premovic.

The Caravan defense is only allowing four points per game and has four shutouts this season.

“Our defense has been carrying us all year,” Lynch said. “Our offense is starting to click though. It’s still new for the kids and they are doing a heck of a job. I am excited to see this team in action next week.”

Mount Carmel will face the winner of Saturday’s DeKalb-Lake Zurich game.
