Wheaton-Warrenville South gambled on kicker Jack Olsen, putting the fate of the game on his foot with 16 seconds to play trailing by one point to St. Charles North.
Olsen came through, nailing a 41-yard field goal to give the Tigers a 13-11 victory against the North Stars.
“I told him just strike the heck out of the ball. It’s in the wind, just go for it,” Wheaton-Warrenville South coach Ron Muhitch said.

St. Charles North (6-3, 5-2 DuKane) led 3-0 at halftime. Wheaton-Warrenville South (8-1, 6-1) left points on the board with an out of character 30-yard field goal miss by Olsen, who set the IHSA record with eight field goals in Week 1 against Metea Valley.
“You know, those kickers and quarterbacks carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and everything they do,” Muhitch said. “We scream at them way too much and we expect a lot out of them. In this case [Tyler] Nubin made some big plays, their quarterback made some big plays and our kids made some nice plays.”

Wheaton-Warrenville South’s Joe Ives, who had a key interception in the third quarter, also returned a punt 32 yards to set up the Tigers only touchdown.
“He’s special. He’s got seven interceptions this season,” Muhitch said.
St. Charles North’s touchdown came on a 14-yard pass to Minnesota recruit Tyler Nubin in the fourth quarter. Nubin had six catches for 49 yards.
