The biggest game of Week 7 delivered a big-time upset that shakes up the Super 25 entering Week 8. Marist (6-1, 5-0) defeated Nazareth (6-1, 4-1) 34-13 in a marquee East Suburban Catholic matchup that leapfrogged the Redhawks ahead of the Roadrunners in the rankings for the first time since the opening week of the season.
Marist has been steadily rising up the rankings since it dropped from No. 5 to No. 18 following a Week 1 loss to Brother Rice. The team is now up to No. 9 following its sixth consecutive win, one spot ahead of Nazareth, which narrowly hangs onto its spot in the top 10.
Elsewhere in the rankings, Oswego East (6-1, 6-1) lost big in a pivotal Southwest Prairie matchup against rival Oswego (7-0, 7-0), but remains in the No. 16 spot given the difficulty of the matchup. The Wolves will have a chance to get back on track with a home game against Plainfield Central (1-7, 1-7) on Friday.

Warren Township is underrated.
Watch out for this tough as nails defense.
Notre Dame should be ranked, but their schedule has been easy. They had 2 easy non conference games and don’t have to play Nazareth. Marist had a bad game and still beat them at ND. I don’t think ND would beat Nazareth.
Should have dropped Naz farther. One okay win isn’t enough. When we thought Benet and Lake Zurich were good Naz seemed great. Now we know better.
ND is a top 10 team in Illinois. Ty Gavin is the best football player in Illinois. Their defense also is a top 5 unit in the state. It’s shocking how Notre Dame isn’t a top 10 rank and Ty Gavin dosen’t have 30 offers.
How are the Notre Dame Dons not ranked? They have ONE loss to #9 Marist by one 4th quarter TD and Ty Gavin is one of the top players in the state.
LWE may be one of Illinois best high school teams ever! This comes from a person who lives in Tinley Park. What they did to HF was unheard of!!
GREAT teams in high school football don’t get the credit they deserve like basketball. The demise of LWN made East even MORE of a powerhouse!
Wow, still no love for ND. This is the only website that they are not ranked in the top 25. They were much more competitive than Nazareth was against Marist.
Lincoln Way East, Brother Rice and Marist are 3 best teams in the state for my money. All 3 have had impressive wins with tough schedules. HF should not even be in the top 10 after getting crushed by Lincoln Way East.
And all their other wins of the season just dont count, John Bosch?
They do, but when you get a running clock against, you don’t deserve to be ranked that high. Marist’s loss was by 4 points on the road against a top 10 team and they probably should’ve won that game.
Here come the Redhawks, Go Marist!
