Brandon Smith of Proviso West rushed 21 times for 174 yards and 3 touchdowns Saturday. He’s averaging over one hundred yards a game in the tough west suburban conference. His team is losing but he runs like a young Walter Payton with power and speed at 5″11″ 210 pounds. A great prospect and only a junior. Go see him at York this week. .

There are 14 undefeated teams in the top 25. I don’t remember a year like this after seven games

No way this should be a forfeit. I do not blame Providence. IHSA (as usual) to blame. Team should not be subject to possible harm and violence.

I blame Providence. There was not any problems and the risk of injury to the team or fans was probably less than the risk of injury to the Providence students that drive to school each day.

It appears that Providence forfeited. It’s a shame they couldn’t reschedule.

What happened with Mt. Carmel v Providence?

Providence didn’t want to travel to the city based on expectations that the verdict could make things dicey. I thought that I read later that it was scheduled to be played tomorrow.

It was originally planned for Friday at Gately. Thursday, they rescheduled it to Saturday afternoon at Carey Field on MCHS’ campus. PCHS didn’t want to travel to the city and chose to forfeit the game instead.

I don’t see it that way, I see it as Mt. Carmel didn’t want Providence to come to Carey Field, look Loyola and DLS are playing a crossover game on Monday, at best the game could be on Monday at 3:30. cause Carey Field doesn’t have lights.
