The Illinois High School Association may allow schools with postponed or canceled games to play those games on Monday. As many as 35 Chicago Public Schools games scheduled for this weekend were canceled in the wake of the Jason Van Dyke verdict announced this afternoon. IHSA rules say that teams can play just one game per week but the Executive Director can make exceptions.

The CPS decision to cancel the weekend games, practices and other school activities was announced about one hour after the Van Dyke verdict came in. An email to to CPS parents and families said this move taken “out of an abundance of caution.”
