Super 25 football rankings for Week 7: Three new teams join

A week of dominant performances helped shape the new Super 25 entering Week 7. Nine of the top 15 teams won by 40 points or more.

Top-ranked Lincoln-Way East, took down previously undefeated Homewood-Flossmoor in a commanding 48-6 win in Frankfort. The Griffins showed their dominance on both sides of the ball with a beatdown of the Vikings, who only slide down one spot in the new rankings.

No. 2 Batavia and No. 3 Nazareth also looked dominant in Week 6 victories. Batavia rolled in a 48-point win over Geneva while Nazareth had no trouble in a 55-17 win over Carmel. They’re joined in the top four by No. 4 Oswego, which moves up from No. 5 after a 48-point win against Romeoville.

A few new faces debut in the rankings this week. Glenbard East joins the Super 25 after quality wins against West Aurora (5-1) and South Elgin (5-1). Hillcrest and Rolling Meadows also join.

Let’s look at LWE competitions! They play in an average conference. There are 3 quality teams after there is not much competitions. Looks at the DVP conference, the new conference DuKane. Both conference have qualify teams top to bottoms. The only reason why LWE is on top is because it is closet to Chicago and you guys are too bias to travel out to the surb to see other teams.

After 6 weeks of data, My computer model recommends some tweaks.

5 teams not even near the top 25 are:

    Glenbard West
    Glenbard East
    Prairie Ridge

5 teams that belong in the top 25 are:

    Niles Notre Dame
    Waubonsee Valley

Can’t believe the regular season is already 2/3 over.

I couldn’t disagree with you more about Hillcrest, here’s the reason why just look at Lemont, week 1 Lemont played Beth Long’s #3 team to a 22-15 game. Hillcrest destroyed Lemont 27-7. Just think about that. Hillcrest deserves to be in the top 25, they are my favorite to win the 5A state championship.

I like the way your thinking – who played who and what were the scores. That’s exactly what my computer program does (who played who, where did they play, what was the score, and when did they play ie. how long ago). Hillcrest’s scores are impressive and they should easily win the conference and be undefeated going into the playoffs. However my modeling after week 6 has Hillcrest at #41 in Chicagoland while Lemont has dropped to #78 – so not such and impressive win. It sometimes takes time for the rising teams to move up in the rankings, so as the Hawks keep winning they should be moving up. Good luck in the playoffs, that speed and defense gives them a shot.
