Everything for DaJuan Gordon has come quickly.

The 6-4 Curie guard was thrust into the spotlight last season as a junior and quickly flourished as a player for coach Mike Oliver.

He soon blossomed as a prospect and elevated his stock and status as a recruit, going from a rather unknown to a player with high-major offers in a flash.

And his recruitment unfolded just the same, gaining late interest from Kansas State, taking an official visit to Manhattan and immediately knowing coach Bruce Weber and the Wildcats were exactly what he wanted.

After returning from his Kansas State official visit over the weekend, Gordon committed to the Wildcats on Sunday.

“Everything there felt like a family,” said Gordon, who hit it off with both Weber and assistant coach Brad Korn. “The players and coaches made me feel at home and a part of their family and made me feel wanted. I was able to just be myself, and I could tell they were being themselves as well. They weren’t trying to sell you all the time.”

Gordon, who is the City/Suburban Hoops Report’s No. 3 ranked prospect in Illinois in the Class of 2019, picked up summer offers from Ole Miss, Xavier and Nebraska and had earlier offers from DePaul, Loyola, Tulsa, Colorado State and Saint Louis. Ultimately, he chose Kansas State over SMU, where he also took an official visit earlier in September.

A player with untapped upside and a growing game, Gordon brings terrific offensive potential to the table as a perimeter scorer. He has length and competes at a high level.

“They will be losing a lot of scorers when I come in, so there will be an opportunity to play and contribute,” said Gordon.

Gordon joins a Kansas State program that is ranked among the top 20 in the preseason this year after reaching the Elite Eight last season and has made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
