As editor and publisher of the City/Suburban Hoops Report, a longtime recruiting service that also produced a high school basketball publication that began in 1996, there has been a 10-player all-state first-team and a 10-player all-state second team for 20-plus years.

Here is the 2017-2018 City/Suburban Hoops Report All-State Team.

FIRST TEAM

Ryan Davis, 6-8, Sr., Conant

The ascension of the big man began last year and kept rolling into what turned out to be a monster senior season, averaging 25 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and one block shot a game. Davis, who is headed to Vermont after leading Conant to a 21-8 record this past season, is a versatile five-man who can step away from the basket, score on the block and pass.

Ayo Dosunmu, 6-4, Sr., Morgan Park

This past season he battled a midseason injury but in March led his team to a second straight state championship. The Illinois recruit, who is ranked among the top 30 prospects in the country, averaged 24.4 points and 7.4 assists a game as a senior. In the final game of his career, Dosunmu poured in 28 points in a defining Class 3A state championship win.

Tim Finke, 6-6, Sr., Champaign Central

The all-time leading scorer in Champaign-Urbana city history, Finke piled up numbers throughout his career, including 15 double-doubles as a senior. The Grand Canyon recruit averaged 21 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals a game for a team that reached sectional play and won 20 games.

Javon Freeman, 6-3, Sr., Whitney Young

All Freeman did in two years is win a state title as a junior and finish second as a senior. This past season he averaged 22 points, 5.6 rebounds, three assists and two steals a game. A major threat in space and getting to the rim, Freeman is headed to Valparaiso next season.

Zion Griffin, 6-6, Sr., Hinsdale South

After a breakout summer on the club circuit, Griffin became a high-major recruit and a top 100 prospect in the country. Then the Iowa State commit helped lead the Hornets to a conference championship this past season. The high-flying forward, who averaged 21 points and nine rebounds a game this season, is among the top four prospects in Illinois in the Class of 2018.

Talen Horton-Tucker, 6-5, Sr., Simeon

The City/Suburban Hoops Report Player of the Year put together a sensational senior season. Horton-Tucker averaged 20.1 points, nine rebounds and five assists a game. The do-it-all Iowa State recruit made a considerable jump up the national rankings and into the top 50.

E.J. Liddell, 6-7, Jr., Belleville West

Liddell, 2017-2018 Mr. Basketball winner in Illinois, led his team to a state championship and was a dominating factor at both ends of the floor, averaging 20.8 points, nine rebounds and over six blocks a game. He’s a coveted high-major prospect, ranked among the top 50 juniors in the country and is the City/Suburban Hoops Report’s No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2019.

Kendle Moore, 6-0, Sr., Danville

The dynamic scoring lead guard was one of the most exciting players in the state. Moore, who signed with Drake last fall, dazzled with the ball while averaging 21 points, 3.3 assists and 2.8 steals a game. He shot 68 of 187 from the three-point line (36 percent) while being constantly harrassed and was nearly automatic from the free-throw line, making 92 out of 102 (90 percent).

Francis Okoro, 6-9, Jr., Normal West

Regarded as one of the top prospects in the state, Okoro sports an endless list of high-major offers. As a junior this past season he moved from prospect to player with his production, averaging 15.7 points and 12.4 rebounds a game while shooting 60 percent from the field. Okoro, who blocked 53 shots on the defensive end, was MVP of the Pekin Holiday Tournament and helped his team to 22 wins.

Drew Peterson, 6-7, Sr., Libertyville

In addition to one knocking down one of the most dramatic shots of the year –– a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Conant and win a regional championship –– Peterson put up some eye-popping numbers. Peterson, who scored over 1,500 career points, averaged 25.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists a game.
