  • Charlie

Don’t sleep on Corliss anymore. The beast of the east on 103rd has awaken. Way to go Coach Jones.

  • Bball Junkie

De La Salle is gonna keep turning heads. You’ll stop sleeping on Barlow Alleruzzo,Jamari Norwood and Dave Pinskus soon.

    • Manny

I think we all thought they would be good this year. I think they were the ones sleeping through a 10 and 14 season. What happened to them? With the size I think everyone expected them to be good

  • Sam 50 year alum

Dig this if Proviso East were to make it to Peoria they would have to beat in this order #3 Curie then probably #4 Whitney Young then probably #1 Simeon as a pirate fan who is dedicated Im also realistic They would SHOCK THE WORLD, GO PIRATES

    • Manny

If either Lincoln Park or Proviso East makes it out of that Sectional I think they can consider it like a state title. Because they arent getting past the next game. But they would have won as many big games as any of the other teams that make it to State.

  • High School Hoops Fan

If you have Corliss in, Hope Academy should be in, and above them. That’s a good team. Should be a great game with Orr on Tuesday.

  • Leegs1

Toughest sectional in the state at Decatur.

    • Just the Facts

leggs the two Iowa teams Bolingbrook played are now playing in the championship. How did following basketball via maxpreps work out for you?

  • James

After picking HF to beat marist I have been trying to figure out how marist got ranked so high. I think their schedule is fairly weak. A nice win over Marian catholic and a win over brother rice. I compared them to another weak schedule school – naperville north. Who has a 15 point win over #8 west aurora and a 9 point win over proviso. common opponents – st. Laurence – marist won by 3 and naperville north by 30. The Catholic league is down this year. I think my pick holds up.

    • Manny

Marian Catholic is in the East Suburban Catholic League – which I guess is a Catholic League, but not the Catholic league. Neither League is really down this year. I would say they are both 4-5 deep, but have no dominate teams. I agree with your point about Marist If their big win is over a team that finished 5 and 4 in your conference and in a tie with a weak St Pats team for 4th place you should not be ranked in the top 10. The problem is who else do you put in the top 10. No one has gone out and earned it this year. Teams keep losing to each other and figuring out rankings seems impossible. If it were me ranking teams I would put Bolingbrook and Niles North in the top 10 because they have the most talent and the most ability to beat teams. Based on records I think James makes a good point on Naperville North. If they have a 15 win over a top 10 team and only 2 losses maybe they deserve it. But I hate to give it to teams who dont play tough schedules.

      • Pirate Sleeved Jersey

At this point you put Simeon #1 and Orr #2 and then you grab two hats to pull names out of for the balance of the rankings.

Put Young, Curie and MP in hat one and pull names for 3-5.

Everybody else from ETHS to LWE in hat two and pull the names for 6-25. This parity should make for a fun day tomorrow.

The kid from NN says Catholic League basketball isn’t real basketball….

      • Where is the love?

Remind the kid from NN that they almost lost to a less skilled Catholic school last Friday where a bad charge call that ended up injuring the team’s top D player changed the outcome of that game.

    • Mike O'Malley

      Nice pick james

  • Duke Carnoustie

Let’s hope Norm’s comment doesn’t jinx anything. It’s so hard to win sectional two years in a row. I’m hoping we do it and go downstate.

  • Norm

For a 6th ranked team and 1 seed, Evanston doesn’t get much respect. People picked GBS to beat them, then ND was going to beat them, and now it’s Loyola that will beat them. Let the Kits keep proving everyone wrong

    • James

They are ranked the highest of any team in the burbs. They get huge respect. But there are a bunch of teams with similar records behind them so you really have nothing to complain about. Norm it is time to enjoy the success. My predictions have been off this year so i think you are in good shape.

    • Michael Altman

      Go Wildkits!!!!!

  • James

Super tuesday coming up . Some of the best match ups of the year. I think Loyola will be a big surprise sectional winner. Willowbrook also is going to break through. The win over hinsdale south at home willgive them the confidence they need foe the big upset.
