Orr’s Lou Adams disagrees with a call at Chicago State. Worsom Robinson/For Sun-Times

Not the greatest games tonight at Chicago State. Simeon beat Young in a low-tempo slog and Orr dominated Curie.

The Orr performance was informative. The Spartans are clearly peaking at the right moment to give Simeon a challenge. Read all about the Public League semifinals.

Tonight’s top games

Maine South 49, Niles North 47:Huge win for the Hawk. I don’t think anyone wants to see them in the playoffs. Fillip Bulatovic scored 23 for Maine South.

Proviso West 63, York 52 2 OT: Ronnie Allgood continued his top-notch season with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Larry Lynch and Timmeon Buford scored 15 and Deveon Bryant scored 13. Philadelphia 76ers player Robert Covington was on hand, his jersey was retired.

Momence 81, South Newton, IN 62: Lamar Lillard led the Skins with 27 points and six steals. Lamarius Lillard added 16 and Woodrow Hubbard scored 15. I’m finally making the trip to Momence tomorrow. The Skins host Cissna Park.

Prospect 51, Wheeling 33: David Swedura scored 17 and now as 991 career points. The Knights are 20-5 this season and will play Barrington in the Mid-Suburban League championship game on Wednesday. The Broncos beat Fremd 53-43 tonight.

New Trier 56, Evanston 40: Yowza. That is quite a margin. I’ve been a little worried that the Trevians were creeping a little too high in the rankings. Guess that isn’t the case at all.

Fenwick 48, Loyola 45: The Friars sneak out with a big win and are the CCL Blue champs. They finish 8-0 in conference, undefeated for the third consecutive season.

West Aurora 65, South Elgin 47: The Blackhawks dominate behind Cam Donatlan’s 24 points. Eleven consecutive wins for West Aurora.

St. Viator 58, Carmel 40: Big margin here too. The Lions are 22-5 and have won the East Suburban Catholic.

Andrew 60, Thornidge 42: Evan Yerkes has 176 three-pointers in his career, breaking the record set by Chris Delaney in 1990.

Homewood-Flossmoor 67, Bolingbrook 63: The Vikings have clearly flown far too low under the radar this season. Maurion Scott led the way with 21 points.
