Mount Carmel sent an email on Sunday to alumni addressing the controversial decision to replace legendary coach Frank Lenti with Jordan Lynch.
The email, signed by Mount Carmel President Ned Hughes, says that the school’s administration “had been speaking with Frank for several years about the future of the Mount Carmel football program and asked him to create a succession plan. However, Frank’s decision was to coach indefinitely. Based on considerable discussion between leadership, members of the Board of Directors and with Frank directly, we made the difficult decision to make this change.”
The email closed with a thanks and best wishes to Lenti:
“Frank has had a tremendous impact on Mount Carmel football over his many years of dedicated service, and we thank him for his many contributions since he joined the organization in 1984. We wish Frank nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
Lenti revealed his side of the tumultuous separation with Mount Carmel on Thursday.
Mount Carmel replaced Lenti with former star player Jordan Lynch in late December. Read all about that here.
