Well, if I’m going to be sick this wasn’t the worst weekend for it to happen. A lot of the area’s top teams are out of town. I was planning on heading down to Minooka to see the Indians take on Maine South but didn’t make it.

Tonight’s big news is Simeon. The Wolverines beat Memphis East 78-73 in overtime in Memphis to avenge one of their losses this season. Simeon lost to Memphis East when it was No. 1 in the country, it is currently No. 5. Simeon entered at No. 17, but they should rise after this.

Talen Horton-Tucker led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Xavier Pinson scored 14 and Missiah Jones had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Fenwick 58, De La Salle 45: The Friars roll. DJ Steward and Damari Nixon each scored 14 points.

St. Patrick 43, IC Prep 42: Fun finish here. Sophomore Domenic Galati hit the game-winning 15-footer with 1.2 left. He scored 13.

Jacobs 52, Crystal Lake South 37: The Golden Eagles haven’t received much attention this season but are unbeaten in the Fox Valley and 12-2 overall. Ryan Phillips had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Kameron Mack added 15.

Grant 63, Notre Dame 57: Very nice win for the Bulldogs who are now 5-8.

Curie 57, Muskegon, MI 47: The Condors win on the road and maybe Maurice Commander’s hand is starting to feel better. He had 16 points and four rebounds. Treavon Martin added eight points and 11 boards.

Maine South 58, Minooka 42: Tommy Gardiner had a big night with 25 points. The Hawks are 11-3.

St. Louis Chaminade 107, Morgan Park 94: Ayo Dosunmu made a brief appearance but it sounds like he’s still about a week away from being back at full strength. Cam Burrell led the way with 36 points and 11 rebounds.

Hillcrest 61, John Glenn (MI) 44: Jalen Hughes scored 16, Lamont Bishop had 13 and freshman Kenton Wright added 10.

Batavia 78, Plainfield South 55: Another win for the Bulldogs. Jayden Johnson led the way with 20 points and Eric Peterson scored 11.

Rich Central 55, Schaumburg 45: Bryonte Washington scored 17 points and DaWan Evans added 10 the Olympians improve to 8-6.

Perspectives 70, Rantoul 54: Huge game from senior Lenell Watson with 39 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Orr 62, St. Joseph 52: The Chargers keep it kinda close against Orr. Dannie Smith scored 21 and Chase Adams added 15.
