Oswego knocks off GBW and Minooka edges Barrington. Maybe Suburban Prarie conf gets some respect now?

All 3 lincolnway teams and Prov advance to quarter finals. All 4 less than 10 miles from each other, 3 of them less than 5 miles apart on same US 30 (Lincoln hwy..hence lincolnway name) and 4th. Catch blue advances 4 teams. 7 teams out of 24 from two conferences…wow

    • JK

Add 3 teams from the ESCC with a 4th still going in 5A. Great stuff! That LW area has been a great source of football talent, if I recall correctly, 30+ kids from the same grade school team started in State Championship games in ’96 for 3 different schools – JC, Providence and Lincoln Way (when there was only one).

  • Southside Johnny

The Lincolnway way teams hail from not only the same conference but the same district. Not sure if that’s ever happened…

  • South Side Johnny

Check it out. All three Lincolnway teams ranked in the top 25. Not sure how good LWW is but LWE & LWC have ligit shots of taking home the trophy in 8A & 7A respectively. If this were to occur, does anyone know if this has ever happened in state before? Two teams from the same conference taking home state titles in separate classes? Go D210!!

    • Fred

Probably not the only example, but JCA and Carmel from ESCC won 5A and 6A in 2003.

    • HSFB Fan

Prov & Mt. Carmel both won titles in different classes in ’02, ’96, and ’91 but interestingly we’re not in same conf/div those years, they both also played each other for titles in 2000 & ’98 when they were in same conf. Most dominant conf was dupage valley in ’07 when NN beat GBN in 8A and WWS fell to LZ in 7A – 3 teams in the finals. This year could see 3 teams within few miles of each other win 8A (LWE) 7A (LWC) & 6A (Prov). GBW & Montini (Glen Ellyn &. Lombard neighbors) hav won titles in same years in ’15 & ’12

      • HSFB Fan

Let’s not overlook tht Cath Blue still has 4 teams remaining in this year’s playoffs & potentially could win 6A, 7A, and 8A.

Good test for Glenbard West this week playing Oswego (at Glenbard East????). Good things ahead if they keep focused. A chance to dethrone LWE? And maybe a revenge game with MS. Going forward, this is probably the toughest road to the finals of any remaining team. But would they want it any other way? Go Hitters!!!

  • Hugh

Huntley knocked out in first round and ranked 23? Well that’s quite a disservice to other teams who actually won their first round games. This is about all phases of football, who has the best team…when it really counts. Defenses are so looked over when it comes to these amateur hour rankings, Sun Times, Edgeless, etc.

  • HSFB Fan

Looks like the team’s most likely to stumble this week and drop in the rankings are Phillips, Loyola, and Lake Zurich. Batavia also has a big challenge. Rest of top 12 should win this week and advance.

  • Hawk Yeah!

Yeah we know where you stand. You’re a one trick pony. You picked against Loyola the last two years as well….and bragged when they finally lost to Maine South in the finals.

  • Public Powerhouses

Loyola with its 35-32 win over New Trier should be dropped down below Glenbard West, Lake Zurich ,Homewood -Flossmoor, Barrington and St. Charles North, all of which won much more impressively. Also, New Trier’s 32 points was more points scored against Loyola than by all four of its Catholic Blue opponents which totaled only 31 points all together.
