SSC is best conference this year. LWE, LWC, HF & BB are top 25 and a combined 25-3 so far. The only three losses coming from games within this group; LWE over HF, LWE over LWC & HF over BB.

  • Public Powerhouses

Loyola will get a much tougher draw this year because of its loss to Phillips in game 1. It will probably be seeded about 10th and will exit early as it will be confronted by a Public Powerhouse early.

I love your coverage of the Chicago High School Football. I hope we get to see the ESL versus GW this year. Should be a good one. Go East Side.

Amen Ralphie! Playoff system, where SOS and playoff points actually mean something.

  • Ralphie

Ranking high school football teams from all divisions into one ranking is tough. Of course it’s subjective. Take it for what it is, a chance for dopes like us to argue. There is a real live playoff system when this all gets worked out.

As a class of 85 WSC guy I have plenty of love for the WSC, but the WCS is having a down year. No chance any of the WSC teams outside of Glen Ellyn advance to rd 2 or 3 w/ out a very favorable draw, and that goes for the non-Batavia Upstate 8 teams. The way Beth has undervalued the DVC is atrocious. Thankfully in 2 weeks it will all work itself out.

The West Suburbs Silver also lost all of their games against other conferences except for Lyons, not including Gold crossovers.

  • Just the Facts

At this point all the area rankings are atrocious; Mike Clark, Beth, and CSN I don’t know which is worse. They could all do themselves a service and scrap it.

Naz loses 42-0 and only drops 2 spots? Marist is admittedly very good but after seeing that slaughter I’d say Naz is fringe top 25. No impressive wins.

  • Blue_Rule

GW will go far in playoffs. Great program!

  • Ralphie

My team is Glenbard West. I only think two teams would beat us, MS and LWE but being ranked seven is fair because MS really beat us bad the first game. But we will be finding out here soon on the field.

Neither Naperville teams? Really undervaluing DVC

    • Nashtin

Actually, all 3 Naperville teams are top 20 in the state:
Central statistical rank is #10 in the Chicagoland area. Source:
North statistical rank is #15 in the Chicagoland area. Source:
Nequa Valley statistical rank is #16 in the Chicagoland area. Source:

  • Blue_Rule

    Who is your team Ralphie?

  • Blue_Rule

Ralphie, all good with her other teams. But Willowbrook?

  • Pirate Sleeved Jersey

Did I count four teams from the Upstate Eight and only one from the DVC? That along w/ Naz @ 12 and Lyons @ 13 is bordering on criminal. So beating up on an East Aurora, West Chicago, Streamwood or Glenbard East is worth more than playing a competitive schedule? Need to include playoff points w/ their records in the parens. Thankfully in two weeks we’ll be rid of this nonsense and only the best will advance.

      Seems you have a point.
Lyons statistical rank is #30 in the Chicagoland area. Source:
St. Charles North statistical rank is #29 in the Chicagoland area. Source:
South Elgin statistical rank is #46 in the Chicagoland area. Source:
St. Charles East statistical rank is #48 in the Chicagoland area. Source:

Well researched. no chance any of the Upstate 8 outside of Batavia should ranked ahead of the top four in the DVC. Also, although I am A WSC alumn (pre-precious metal), it’s a down year in the WSC (despite Ralphie’s & Rhino’s pleas). Lyons, HC Willowbrook and OPRF will be lucky to get to the rd of 16. No chance any of them could beat WVHS, and WVHS will be hard pressed to even make the playoffs from the DVC.

  • Ralphie

Hey Blue Rule stop being a homer and get off Beth’s case. I study Illinois High School football and I find her picks to be generally insightful. Even when she isn’t ranking my team as high as I would like.

  • Blue_Rule

Beth, you truly have no clue what you are doing. Could you please actually rank by who teams play and their SOS. Willowbrook makes your top 25. Who have they played? Providence dismantles Fenwick and you ignore them again. At least Mike Clark and Edgy see what PC has done this year. Don’t see us beating LA but should be a good game.

  • Cornelius

Ewe. A team gets running clocked and drops two spots?
