SHARE IHSA launches ‘Play Smart’ initiative after criticism over safety

The Illinois High School Association, buffeted by criticism that it has been cavalier about player safety, is scheduled to announce a new initiative Tuesday meant to “reclaim the narrative” about the organization’s commitment to protecting the health of young athletes.

The campaign — dubbed “Play Smart. Play Hard.” — includes a website devoted to concussion education and a newly appointed advisory council that is supposed to review IHSA polices and make recommendations on possible changes.
