Oak Lawn coach Billy Gerny received quite a surprise a few weeks back, and a satisfying one at that. Senior shortstop Boo Quillin approached Gerny out of the blue about wanting to get back on the mound this season.
“Boo came up to me and said his arm felt great and he wanted to try pitching,” Gerny said. “To bring Boo into the mix is like bringing a No. 1 into the rotation.”
Quillin has pitched like an ace in his two starts, beating Tinley Park 4-0 and Bremen 6-2.
