Through the first 40 minutes Tuesday, Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge combined for more near-misses and thumping collisions than shots on goal.

Just after the break, less than two minutes into the second half, it was a hustle play that ended up breaking the 0-0 stalemate.

CLS midfielder Jessica Schoenfeldt raced a defender to the end line for a ball slowly rolling out of play to the right of the Prairie Ridge goal. Schoenfeldt got to the ball and cut it back into the six-yard box where Katherine Siavelis powered it into the top right corner of the net.
