Sandburg’s Louie Hayes wasn’t exactly thrilled with his podium finish at the Class 3A individual state tournament Saturday night in Champaign.

Despite placing second in the loaded 106-pound field, Hayes initially walked away from the podium before his family urged him to return. Hayes realized it was the right move.
