Senior forward Matt Weaver was a young man playing with noticeable purpose during the Vernon Hills boys basketball team’s 72-50 North Suburban Conference crossover win over Mundelein on Thursday night.

Weaver, a 6-3 forward, scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Cougars, but it was his four blocked shots that sent the home crowd into a frenzy multiple times.
