No. 3 Lincoln Way East at No. 1 Maine South, Fri., 7 p.m.

Two teams coming off statement wins in Week 1. Maine South destroyed Glenbard West 62-34 and Lincoln0Way-East beat Crete-Monee 27-7. The Hawks’ offense looked unstoppable with senior quarterback John O’Sullivan leading the high-powered offense. Maine South running back Fotis Kokosioulis scored four touchdowns. Lincoln-Way East first-year quarterback Brendan Morrissey put on a show against Crete-Monee, accounting for four touchdowns. Lincoln-Way East sports a staunch defense behind top defensive end prospect Devin O’Rourke and it will be put to the test against the top-ranked team.

No. 2 Prairie Ridge at No. 14 Huntley, Fri., 7 p.m.

Prairie Ridge’s offense didn’t show as much firepower as expected in week one with a 7-6 victory over conference rival Cary Grove. The Wolves defense though, came to make a statement on Friday and their discipline proved to be the difference in week one. Huntley senior quarterback Eric Mooney was instrumental in a 30-27 win over Jacobs in week one, proving his big play capability from the quarterback position and potential on special teams. Although the margin of victory was slim, Huntley has the pieces all over the field to make week two interesting against Prairie Ridge.

No. 4 Phillips at No. 23 Richards, Fri., 7 p.m.

With a program-changing win against Loyola under its belt, Phillips looks to continue rolling against another Super 25 opponent. Senior quarterback J’Bore Gibbs, an athletic prospect, made an impact in the passing and running game against the Ramblers. Running back Craig Elmore is an athlete to watch, especially this week against a fast, athletic Richards team. The Bulldogs beat Carmel 35-21 in Week 1. Richards quarterback Sebastian Castro led an offense with multiple weapons. The Bulldogs’ physical style of play disrupted the Corsairs and has potential to do the same this week.

No 24 Montini at No. 13 Lake Zurich, Fri., 7:30 p.m.

Lake Zurich’s defense was rock solid in Week 1, led by one of the top defensive players in the area, linebacker Jack Sanborn. The Bears beat Fremd 21-3 while showcasing several offensive weapons, including senior quarterback Evan Lewandowski. Montini beat Hyde Park 51-8 last week, a solid debut for new head coach Mike Bukovsky. The offense was dynamic, led by two touchdowns from Blake Fedanzo.

No. 21 Neuqua Valley at No. 16 Naperville Central, Fri., 7:30 p.m.

One of the biggest questions for Naperville Central was how transfer quarterback Payton Thorne would respond in a game situation. That question has been answered. Thorne and his receivers, highlighted by Tommy Coyne and Cade McDonald, took down Glenbard North 37-7. Fellow DuPage Valley power Neuqua Valley stormed into the Super 25 with a 35-7 conference win against Metea Valley. The Wildcats defense was stellar, led by the defensive line and Matt Quinn.
