Recruiting is open again for Lyons rising senior Ben Bryant, who’s getting plenty of interest.

Things changed for Bryant about a month ago, when he parted ways with Wisconsin after verbally committing to the school early in his recruiting process. He since has drawn scholarship offers from West Virginia and Ole Miss, along with summer-camp invitations.

‘‘I know for sure I am camping at Cincinnati and North Carolina,’’ Bryant said.

Plus, he has to check out some new campuses.

‘‘I want to get a good feel for the coaches and see if I could picture myself playing under them,’’ Bryant said.

Bryant, a 6-3, 195-pounder, said he has improved several aspects of his game since last season.

‘‘I think I have improved my accuracy a lot,’’ Bryant said. ‘‘All the seven-on-seven games have helped me with my timing and accuracy. Also, I think my leadership has improved. I’ve become a lot more vocal with my team.’’

He’s also considering making some other visits.

‘‘I might visit Western Michigan again,’’ Bryant said. ‘‘Also, I want to visit West Virginia. I want to find a place where I can grow and become the best quarterback I can be.’’

Lyons advanced to the second round of the Class 8A playoffs last season.

Shannon back on market

Oswego defensive lineman Noah Shannon has turned into a dominant force. The 6-2, 285-pound rising senior verbally committed to Minnesota this spring but has decided to reopen his recruitment.

‘‘I would like to start off by saying thank you to [Minnesota] coach [P.J.] Fleck and [assistant] coach [Brian] Callahan for the personal love and support they have shown me throughout the process and a special thanks to the Gopher fans of Minnesota,’’ Shannon wrote in a statement. ‘‘This is a very difficult decision for me. But after talking it over with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Minnesota. Minnesota still remains a top school for me.’’

Shannon has scholarship offers from all over the country and continued to draw interest after he verbally committed to the Gophers. His options include Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Missouri, Northern Illinois and Purdue.

Minnesota has secured commitments from several other top Illinois prospects, including Glenbard North defensive back Tyrik Henderson and Marist defensive lineman Elijah Teague.
