Grant’s John Kerr (24) and Kyle Dupree (21) are overwhelmed after taking down North Chicago. Worsom Robinson/ For the Sun-Times.

Another fun game tonight, I’m having a good week. The journey to Fox Lake was well worth it. Read all about Grant’s fourth quarter comeback win against North Chicago.

Grant big man John Kerr is averaging 20 points and 10 boards and is a legit All-Area contender. The future is bright for North Chicago, I was impressed by junior Tyrek Cooper and 6-6 sophomore Raeshaun Samoa.

I’ll be in Arlington Heights tomorrow. St. Viator hosts St. Patrick, I want to get another look at the Shamrocks.

Friday’s top games

Fenwick 56, DePaul 53: Jamal Nixon scores 24 for the Friars, they win the conference. DePaul frosh Elliot Sieger continues to impress, scored 20.

Brother Rice 55, Leo 45: Nice solid victory for the Crusaders who win the conference title.

Niles North 58, Maine South 55: My second choice game of the night, need to see both these teams. Vikings get the narrow victory.

Evanston 65, New Trier 33: Wildkits dominate the rivalry game

Notre Dame 55, Marist 43: Impressive margin of victory for the Dons, one of the more unpredictable teams in the area. Marist isn’t dealing real well with the step up in schedule over the past few weeks. Will be interesting to see if they adjust.

Bolingbrook 55, Lockport 49: This rivalry game was close. The Raiders are undefeated and I remain amazed and impressed by what the Porters are doing this season considering the talent level. Bolingbrook has a big test tomorrow night in O’Fallon.

Fremd 68, Barrington 29: Still unbeaten.

Thornton 47, Lincoln-Way West 46: Alonzo Verge (and I’ve heard a couple others) sit out for disciplinary reasons. The Wildcats survive, but this may have been the end of Verge’s POY candidacy.

Geneva 62, Batavia 52: Another good rivalry. The Vikings win and remain unbeaten. Crazy how often I’m typing that in February.

Hinsdale South 62, Willowbrook 50: The Warriors probably drop from the Super 25. I need to get out to see Hinsdale South.
