Curie’s Elijah Joiner enjoys the Condors victory over Kenwood, January 10, 2017 Allen Cunningham / for Chicago Sun-Times

Quite a performance from Elijah Joiner tonight in Curie’s big win. Read all about it.

First takeaway: The Condors looked like the team we saw most of the season, nothing at all like the squad that played in Pontiac.

Second takeaway: It’s always exciting when a player shoots well. Joiner did that tonight. But the second half was the really impressive part. He didn’t hit a single three (or even take one I don’t think). Joiner relentlessly attacked the basket and scored. That’s a skill a player can count on. It will be there when the three dries up for a game. If he continues to do that Curie is in good shape.

Fun No Shot Clock was posted today. Joe and I focused on teams outside the Super 25. Give it a listen.

Prospect 61, Conant 58 OT: A good year for the Mid-Suburban League. I’ve been pretty complimentary of the Knights this season on No Shot Clock and in the notebook. They took down Stevenson earlier this season and now get a big scalp. Franki Mack scored 22.

St. Patrick 69, Niles West 58: A bit closer than I would have expected, but a win is a win. Laurence Merritt scored 22 for the Shamrocks.

Simeon 72, Vocational 49: Evan Gilyard with another big night, 24 points. Kezo Brown had 14 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and Madison Lowery added 12 points and five rebounds.

Oak Park 56, Downers Grove North 53: Nice win for the Huskies, who are as confounding as ever. Jared Scott scored 20

Brother Rice 61, St. Rita 55: The Crusaders are rolling. Rita doesn’t have a great record, but the team has talent. Really looking forward to Marist-Brother Rice next week.

Geneva 67, Elgin 41: Still unbeaten.

Stevenson 72, Lake Zurich 42: Big margin here. Patriots seem to be playing well. Justin Smith scored 16.

Dwight 74, Woodland 45: FOX WATCH is on fire, Justin Fox had 33 points.

Stagg 70, Chicago Christian 52: I’ve heard some pretty good things about Chicago Christian, decent win for the Chargers. John Contant scored 17.

Bolingbrook 68, De La Salle 59: Solid win. Kaleb Thornton led the way with 17. Stone Parker scored 28 for the Meteors.

Urban Prep-Englewood 56, Ag. Science 50: Jayden Gasby continues to put up numbers. He had 21 points and nine boards.

Lindblom 35, DuSable 34: Jalen Carter scored 22 points and played the hero, making two free throws with 10 seconds left for the win.

Marist 52, St. Ignatius 36: Still undefeated. Morgan Taylor scored 17.

Bloom 58, Lincoln-Way Central 54: Bob Curran’s guys almost pulled off the upset.
