Christ The King fired girls basketball coach Edward Douglas on Monday after a video surfaced of him pushing one of his players during a game against Ellison on Thursday.

“We were made aware of the incident [Monday afternoon] and immediately began an internal investigation,” said David Bowles, a spokesperson for Christ The King. “The coach is no longer an employee of Christ The King.”

Douglas was not a teacher at the school. He led Christ The King to regional titles the past three years. The team lost to DePaul Prep in the Class 2A sectional final last season.

“We have met with the student, her parents, her teammates and their parents and have communicated with all of our students and parents since we were made aware of the incident yesterday,” Bowles said. “The well being of our students is our highest priority.”
